Through over a century of innovative displays and engaging programs, the Fairbanks Museum encourages us to be curious and caring about the animals, plants, geology, weather, and other features of the world around us.

Contributors

Anna Rubin

As director of external relations at the Fairbanks Museum for over two decades, Anna Rubin collected essays and images to tell stories of the Fairbanks Museum. She continues to discover exquisite artifacts and deeper meaning in displays and programs.

David Macaulay

David Macaulay is a British-born American author and illustrator known as “America’s Explainer-in-Chief” for his detailed, humorous books about architecture, engineering, and how everyday things work. He illustrated many exhibits at the Fairbanks Museum and authored the Foreword to Many Wonders.

Adam Kane

Adam Kane is the Executive Director of the Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, an institution where science, nature, and culture converge to inspire curiosity and lifelong learning. Since joining the Museum, Adam has guided its transformation through strategic growth, new educational initiatives, and a revitalized vision connecting people with the natural world, both within its historic galleries and across the 515-acre Matsinger Forest Nature Preserve.

Mark Breen

Mark Breen is Director of the Lyman Spitzer Jr. Planetarium at the Fairbanks Museum. He can be heard on Vermont Public giving tours of the visible stars and planets with his Eye on the Night Sky broadcast. In addition, he is a senior meteorologist with the Eye on the Sky weather team.
