Birthdays are a blast at the Fairbanks Museum!

We’re excited to celebrate with you!
Saturday or Sunday, morning or afternoon options.

Each party includes:

  • 2-hour private room rental
  • Table and chair setup
  • Themed tablecloths (space or dinosaurs)
  • Happy Birthday banner
  • 30-minute private planetarium movie
  • All day access to the museum galleries

Cost:

  • $250 for members
  • $300 for nonmembers (includes Fairbanks Museum family membership)

These prices are good for up to 20 people (adults and children). There must be 1 adult for every 5 children. Additional guests are $10/person, maximum of 40 guests total.

Add on options:

  • Themed (space or dinos) invitations for your guests: $1/invitation
  • Goody bags for each child: $5/bag

Details:

  • Parties can be booked for Saturdays or Sundays at 10:00 AM-12:00 PM or 2:00-4:00 PM. Planetarium shows will be shown at 10:30AM for the morning option and 3:30PM for the afternoon option.
  • Reservation must be made at least one month in advance
  • Payment must be made in full to reserve date
  • Rescheduling or canceling must be done at least one week in advance. If not, a $25 rescheduling/cancellation fee will apply.

Lyman Spitzer Jr. Planetarium

This unique space is a place where you and your guests can explore the cosmos. Located up a spiral staircase from the main gallery of the Fairbanks Museum and accessible by lift, the planetarium allows you to discover the stars from a unique vantage. This full dome theater is equipped with software to navigate the stars or play full-dome movies, as well as a sound system. The planetarium has seating capacity of 40 people and is fully accessible via a lift from the main floor. Food and beverages are not permitted in the planetarium.

Main Gallery

For an unforgettable event, host your reception in our main gallery. This space can accommodate up to 150 people. You’ll have access to the main floor and balcony level (accessible by elevator). Wireless internet and a speaker system are available for music or announcements. The Lecture Hall adjacent to the main gallery may be used for prep or storage. Collections and exhibits must remain in place. 

We can work with you to arrange folding chairs in the gallery. The use of rental furniture, such as tables and chairs, is permitted, with approval by Museum staff. We are unable to accommodate sit-down meals in the main gallery. Passed hors d’oeuvres and beverages are permitted. We’ll work with you to make sure your event is as inspiring and unique as the setting!

Victorian Classroom

The Museum’s Victorian Classroom features vintage woodwork and taxidermy mounts. The fully accessible room is 780 square feet, located just off the main gallery.

Seating capacity is 30 to 50 chairs (table set-up) or 60 to 70 chairs (presentation style/no tables). The classroom has a video conferencing suite which uses Google Meet routed through a 70” smart TV. Setting up a virtual meeting is easy and we’re here to help. The TV can also be used to project information from a laptop. The system can mirror any device through Google Cast or Apple airplay. It also has HDMI and VGA dongles to connect with the TV. Museum staff will be available to answer questions and provide assistance where needed throughout your event.

Charlie Browne Classroom

The Charlie Browne Classroom is located in our Tang Science Annex. This space is ideal for small gatherings and meetings. Seating capacity is 30. The space has a 70” smart TV that can be used to project information from a laptop. It also has HDMI and VGA dongles to connect with the TV. This space is not easily accessible for people with mobility limitations.
