Dr. Hiram Cutting of Lunenburg, VT recorded many interesting weather events, including the following from Victory, VT on this date in 1842. A very strong and apparently noisy tornado swept through the little town in Essex County, VT. The noise of the tornado, whose track was about 2 miles long and up to a half miles wide through the forest, was heard for more than 10 miles, and was thought by some to be an earthquake.
