Just days after locally torrential rains, a larger swath of heavy rains soaked much of central New England from northwest Connecticut northeast to southwestern Maine on this date in 1969. 4.81 inches was recorded in Newfane, VT, while Mays Mill in Halifax, VT topped 5 inches, as did Hanover, NH. Amhurst, Mass had over 5.5 inches, but the highest totals were enhanced by the White Mountains, where Pinkham Notch noted 10 inches.
