Back-to-back snow storms from the 22nd to the 24th brought heavy snow to much of New England in 1970. 12 to 18 inches of snow added to the snow already on the ground to bring depths of 2 to 3 feet through all of northern New England, and neighboring New York and Quebec. Snow on the ground in Montpelier reached 43 inches.
