July of 1962 continued its frenetic behavior on this date with heavy rains from thunderstorms. Scattered frost on the 6th was followed just a few days later by tornadoes near Chester, Weathersfield, and Springfield on the 9th. On the 13th, lightning caused a number of fires, while 6 inches of rain in Groton, and nearly 5 inches recorded on Mt. Mansfield, causing a number of roads to be washed out.
