A special anniversary today for meteorology, but also photography, and even the realm of art, for it was on this date in 1885 that Wilson “Snowflake” Bentley took his first photo-micrograph of a snow crystal. He went on to photograph over 5 thousand of them, as well as images of frost and dew. You can learn more about him from the Jericho, VT Historical Society.
