On this date in 1783, the second tropical storm system of the month was close enough to bring heavy precipitation, but far enough east to draw cold air from the north into its circulation. This changed rain to snow through out most of the interior of New England. Woodstock, VT reported 12 inches, with more in the mountains to the west.
