Other weather service offices report the same dearth of sunny days, being the cloudiest month in Concord, NH, Mt. Washington, and Albany, NY. Why so cloudy? The main storm track migrates south from Canada into the northern US during the fall, and cold air behind the storms goes over the warmer waters of the Great Lakes, creating additional clouds.
