A week of heavy rains from the 5th to the 12th, 2002, forced rivers and streams into full flood over northern Vermont, with river levels reaching their highest in more than a quarter century in the Northeast Kingdom. Rainfall totals of 5 to 8 inches over-whelmed the rivers, especially in the Passumpsic Valley. Flood damage to businesses and agriculture was estimated at 5 million dollars.
