A heavy snowstorm for central and southern New England roared up the coast on this date in 1866; Wilmington, VT had 25 inches of snow with tremendous blowing and drifting, roads impassible for several days, the worst storm in 20 years. Up to 3 or 4 feet fell in the Berkshires to the south. A foot of snow fell in Lancaster, NH, the first significant snowfall after a mild fall.
