December does not get all of its precipitation as snow. The long-term averages show that Burlington and St. Johnsbury get 75% as snow, while Brattleboro, VT and Concord, NH average about 50% snow and 50% rain. Of course a snowy December can produce near 100% in the form of snow as in 1981, while the mild December of 1997 only featured 33% of the precipitation in the form of snow.
