Going back to 1965, following some unseasonably hot weather in late September, the weather turned shockingly winter-like. Temperatures remained in the 30s, while snow dusted the ground. The timing was right in the northern Green Mountains and near the Canadian border to see some accumulation, including an inch in Newport, VT, and 3 inches in Enosburg Falls, while up to 6 inches was estimated for the mountains.
