Looking back to this date in 1955, just one week following heavy rains from the remnants of Hurricane Connie, the remnants of Hurricane Diane sent more heavy rain, but most of northern New England was spared. Only extreme southern Vermont and New Hampshire received significant rain, including 3.75 inches in Mays Mills, 2.95 inches in Vernon, and 2.15 inches in Whitingham.
