Flash flooding struck portions of the northern Green Mountains on this date in 1995, the only significant rain in a very dry summer. Official rainfall reports of 6.5 inches in Morrisville and a three-day total of 10 inches on Mt. Mansfield sent rivers and streams out of their banks, washing out roads and culverts, and resulted in 2 deaths as a car in Wolcott attempted to cross a flooded roadway.
