27 years ago on this date in 1997, it was snowing! A very slow start to spring was thrown for yet another loop as snow piled up over the higher elevations. 2.5 inches fell in Kirby, VT, with 4 inches at the base of Jay Peak, and 8 inches on Mt. Mansfield. As part of Mt. Washington’s snowiest May, 19 inches there made it the biggest storm of the month.
