Heavy soaking rains fell on this date, in 1982. 2.17 inches set a daily rainfall record for St. Johnsbury, VT while 2.8 inches drenched Canaan, VT, and the Union Village Dam near Thetford received 2.21 inches. Although the amounts were not overly significant, they were some of the first in what would become one of the warmest, wettest winters in recent memory, owing most of its mild character to the strongest El Nino measured to that point.
