A tremendous severe weather outbreak occurred on this date in 1821. Rutland county was hit hard with large hail in Brandon, reported to 3 inches in diameter. Great wind damage in Hubbardton and Pittsford, possibly from a tornado. Later that afternoon the Great New Hampshire whirlwind crossed Sullivan county near Lake Sunapee, continuing east to just south of Tilton, killing 6 people.
