Tremendous damage was noted from lightning strikes on this date in 1904. According to David Ludlum’s Vermont Weather Book, two barns in Benson were struck and burned, as well as in East Fairfield, where one barn survived. One house in East Bethel was also struck, while other reports of damage came from Vergennes, Stowe, and Bristol.
