On this date in 1877, a family of tornadoes were spawned in eastern New York near Saratoga Springs, and moved southeast into Bennington County, VT, just to the north of Bennington, were the severe weather produced 5 inches of hail. One person was reported injured, and some building and trees were destroyed. The severe weather extended north to Derby where a violent thunderstorm was noted, and St. Hypolitte, Que., where a tornado occurred.
