Certainly there was cause to complain on this date in 1934, when a late season cold spell sent thermometers below zero, including 4 below in Woodstock and St. Johnsbury, reaching 8 below in Newport. I’m sure a few cold spots were even colder – perhaps recorded in someone’s diary from that time…
