Fourteen years ago, the Great Snow of 2010 buried western VT with 2 to 3 feet of snow on this date. A storm drifting west from the Atlantic forced a persistent feed of moisture through the Champlain Valley and the western slopes of the Green Mountains, leaving 20 inches in Bennington, 24 inches in Charlotte, 25 inches in Milton, and 33.1 inches in Burlington, the greatest snowfall there on record. The storm was localized, with only 6 to 10 inches in eastern NY, and east of the Green Mountains.
