In Williamstown, VT St. Elmo’s fire (a glowing discharge of static electricity) was seen extending from horses, bushes, fences, logs, and a company of 14 people returning from a religious meeting. Snowfall was up to 6 inches per hour. In Andover, VT this luminous snow featured light extending from most objects outside, and emitted a hissing sound. In Fitzwilliam, NH the lightning struck a church and home, burning them to the ground.
