Music from Above
A concert in the Fairbanks Museum
Halcyon Chorale came together in the summer of 2022 with the intention of becoming the NEK and North Country’s premier choral ensemble. Throughout the last two years, our programs have left audiences in a number of heightened states: humming joyfully, stunned into silence, filled with wonder. Our philosophy is simple: we seek the most striking and beautiful music, and we aim for a professional level of vocal quality. In the Music From Above series, we focus on music that is ethereal, thought-provoking, and meditative. This program will feature a fascinating piece of Renaissance music from Orlando Di Lasso. This work, Prophetiae Sibyllarum sets to strikingly chromatic music twelve poems representing Sibylline prophecies of the coming of Jesus Christ. Other works by contemporary composers Ola Gjeilo, Maurice Durufle, Bobby McFerrin, and others will fill out a beautiful night in the main hall of the museum.
