On this date in 1775, according to the book, “The History of Keene”, which quoted from the Abner Sanger diary, “Toward Night comes up a Terrible Hurricane Thunder shower. Trees are whirled down in Great Plenty.” Although tornadoes are a rare occurrence here, they are found most often in the Connecticut Valley, so either a tornado or possibly violent down-burst winds caused the event.
