Directions
St. Johnsbury is the gateway to Vermont's unspoiled Northeast Kingdom -- a National Geographic Geotourism destination.
The Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium is the cornerstone of St. Johnsbury's Main Street Historic District, just a mile from the intersection of I-91 and I-93.
From Boston, Concord, NH, Littleton, NH, and all points on I-93: Take I-93 North to its end point at I-91. Take I-91 North (1/4 mile) to Exit 20. Bear right onto US 5 North. Take first left turn and proceed up hill to stop sign. Proceed 2 blocks beyond stop sign. Museum is on the right.
From Hartford, Springfield, southern Vermont, and all points south on I-91: Take I-91 North to Exit 20. Bear right onto US 5 North. Take first left turn (up the hill) and proceed to stop sign (at St. Johnsbury Academy.) Proceed 2 blocks beyond stop sign. Museum is on the right.
From the West (Burlington and Montpelier, VT): Take I-89 South from Burlington to Montpelier exit. Take US 2 East 40 miles to St. Johnsbury. Bear left at St. Johnsbury Academy. Proceed two blocks. Museum is on the right.
From the North (Newport, VT, and Quebec): Take I-91 South to Exit 21. Turn right at end of exit ramp onto US 2 East. Take US 2 one mile into St. Johnsbury. Bear left at St. Johnsbury Academy. Proceed two blocks. Museum is on the right.
From the East (Lancaster, NH, White Mountains, and Maine): Take US 2 West into St. Johnsbury. Turn right at T at Dunkin Donuts. Take first left (Maple Street) up the hill to stop sign. Turn left and proceed one block. Museum is on the left.
Street-side parking is available on Main Street. Accessible parking and entrance ramp are located directly behind the Museum.
