For Teachers
Mark Breen, Bobby Farlice-Rubio, Tara Robinson Holt, & Peggy Pearl FOR TEACHERS Welcome to the Fairbanks Museum’s Education site, we look forward to serving you with a visit and a special program offered by the Museum’s team of teachers. But, let me say here that a collection of birds, animals, shells or whatever it may be, is after all but a collection of dead things, unless used as an illustration to help in your search for knowledge. The collection will be placed at your disposal for said purpose. These were the words of the founder, Franklin Fairbanks. Sustaining Franklin Fairbanks’s vision, the Fairbanks Museum continues to offer high quality educational programs that put science and rural history in the hands of school children. For over 100 years, museum staff has enriched the science, natural history and rural history education experience through the use of the museum’s extraordinary collections, exhibits and facility. We offer programs that: · Meet with Vermont’s Framework of Standards and Learning · Excite students and teachers toward an understanding and appreciation of the natural world. · Build, strengthen and complement classroom curricula · Promote inquiry-based learning · Promote science and history literacy A few helpful hints as you explore our offerings: when you see the words current classes, they will refer to fall (Sept — Dec), winter (Jan. — March), or spring (April — June) of that year. July and August are months that there will not be a listing under current classes.
Should you have additional questions regarding classes and or special requests, please do not hesitate to call (802 — 748- 2372) the Museum and ask for me — Peggy Pearl. To schedule a visit, either click on Plan Your Visit, or call the above number and speak with Tara Robinson Holt. The Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium is a truly unique educational experience — let us show you. Sincerely, Peggy Pearl Director of Education/History Curator |
